It's been a long winter and we've missed all our friends at Cheverly Community Market. Well, the wait is over...opening day is this Saturday, 8:00am-noon, at the Cheverly Community Center. The Market blog has all sorts of updates about new vendors, who's bringing what... Here's what you can count on: fantastic music, fair trade coffee, great breads, pastries and tortillas, gorgeous meats, Maryland's best seafood (including oysters and crabs this week!), Elk Run Winery, Pax River Alpacas (lovely yarns!), and, of course, the very best in local produce. Get ready for strawberries!
Here's a plan for a perfect Cheverly summer weekend:
Friday night -- CHVprom
Saturday morning -- Cheverly Community Market
Saturday afternoon -- Cheverly Swim & Racquet Club
Saturday night -- relaxing dinner (made with Cheverly Community Market booty)
Sunday -- work in your Cheverly Community Gardens plot, drink some damn fine tea from local boys Andrews & Dunham, take a picnic (full of more Cheverly Community Market goodies) to the pool and laze the afternoon and evening away.
I can't think of a better way to spend an early summer weekend in the CHV.
(By the way, that's Cheverly resident Tom Smith. His students love him so much that they made a FaceBook fan page for him. If you know him, you already know why! If you don't know him, visit the Market -- you're sure to meet Tom.)
