This just arrived from Ward 2 Council Member Micah Watson:
" All: We have a kernel of good news to report from the County Planning Board - they voted yesterday to DENY the special exception sought by Kenilworth Foreign Car Parts to formalize their junk yard just off of Sheriff Road behind Marblewood Street (south of our Metro station, or southwest of Boyd Park. The property is half a block from the Town boundary at Reed St.)
This vote was just the first step towards killing this absurd and destructive idea - so let's not uncork the champagne yet. But progress is progress. Special thanks to Cheverly's Planning Board, Town Administrator David Warrington, Mayor Mosley, Council Member Callahan, Leila Price, Jeannie Robinson, Thelma Boyd-Nash and many other folks inside and outside Town who testified against the special exception or contributed arguments.
Defeating this application is one of the Council's top priorities this spring, and we'll keep the appropriate feet to the fire.
Also, next Thursday June 25 is the regular June Worksession. You can always find the updated agenda here: http://www.cheverly-md.gov/Pages/CheverlyMD_TownAgenda/"
Thanks for sharing this, Micah. Your constituents appreciate being kept in the loop. I love this new area of communication!

This is a good opportunity to thank the public servants and citizens who will make the difference in deciding this issue. Keep fighting the good fight.
