As details emerge about the homicide that took place in town on Saturday, ChvBlog has done a great job of keeping in touch with Cheverly Police Department's Chief Buddy Robshaw. CHVchick urges our readers to read through the ChvBlog posts concerning this crime to learn what the police are doing and how you may be able to help. Crime Solvers is offering a $25,000 reward in this case so please help get the word out and contact the police with any information you may have.
The suspect is believed to be a black male, 6' 0" tall, with a thin build and light complexion. The police believe that the original argument that lead to the shooting may have begun at the St. Ambrose basketball court and the victim was returning from that location prior to the shooting. The police have reason to believe that some of our younger Cheverly residents may know the identity of the suspect or may have heard details about the shooting from their friends. They are strongly urging the parents of teenagers to talk to their kids about this and report any information as soon as possible to the police. Have information? Please contact Cheverly Police Department at 301-341-1055 or email the chief at policechief@cheverly-md.gov.
CHVchick also reminds our readers to stick with the facts -- not hearsay -- in discussions with your neighbors and friends. Idle speculation in a case like this will not help, and may even make things worse. It is a trying time for our community, but if we pull together and keep level heads, we'll get through it.
Our deepest condolences go to the family of the victim, 22 year-old Spencer Morris III, of the 3300 block of Cheverly Avenue. Our hearts are with you during this terribly difficult time.
